This is one of the current things that you as a web user is supposed to be paying attention to. This is one of the reasons I don't use mainstream 'news' sites but rely on RSS feeds and an RSS app or extension , and even these get polluted.

The BBC is unfortuately a prime example of this. All sorts of irrelevant stuff ends up on the BBC's 'tech' or UK News RSS feeds.

Don't watch television news channels
If you do either mute and use subtitles or sound only
Use archive links if you want to refer to web stories.
Disconnect from any discussion of these types of attention wastes
